16 of our members enjoyed a fabulous break at Hayling Island supported by 8 staff. They had 3 nights at lakeside. Everyone stayed in a twin chalet and were supported 2:1 by staff.
Our members challenged themselves with archery, supporting each time. It’s was not just about hitting the target, but about cheering each other on. There was time for short mat bowls, indoor tennis, axe throwing, rifle shooting and keep fit classes.
One afternoon, they hopped aboard the mini train for a ride along the coast having fun by simply being together by the sea.
Mealtimes were a highlight too — delicious food, shared stories, and the comfort of having friends and staff with them to assist choosing food from the buffet. In the evenings it was a chance to dress up and hit the disco dance floor. In the morning it was sit down to a tasty breakfast.
More than anything, this holiday was about independence and friendship: choosing what they wanted to do, supporting each other, and making memories that will last long after the bags are unpacked.
Plus it gave the parents opportunities to go away for a weekend knowing their young adults were in safe hands.
