Out & About ROAR
We organise a social activity programme for our members, which offers around 25-30 different activities each month. Groups of people meet for each activity and are supported by a paid member of staff and a band of volunteers. All our volunteers are vetted and trained and come from a wide variety of backgrounds. We pay their out-of-pocket expenses.
Our activities are wide-ranging and include games evenings, film nights, craft, sports, day trips, chatter tables, breakfasts, lunches, pub meets and many more.
Our activities take place in Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring, We also arrange weekends away.
Potential members must be over 18, live in, or receive services in Dacorum and have a learning disability. An application form must be completed for each new member so that we can ensure that we can meet everyone’s needs. Core funding for the Out & About ROAR Scheme is provided on an annual basis by Hertfordshire County Council.
The scheme aims to accommodate people with varying degrees of learning disabilities who may also have other special needs. We are happy to discuss the needs of individuals. Some activities may not be suitable for everyone.
All activities are organised and led by the Activity Leaders assisted by trained and vetted Volunteers.
