The ROAR scheme takes groups of adults with learning disabilities on social activities in the community, whilst their unpaid carers receive a break. A monthly programme of activities is organised for members to select from.
Potential members must be over 18, live in, or receive services in Dacorum and have a learning disability. An application form must be completed for each new member so that we can ensure that we can meet everyone’s needs. Core funding for the ROAR Scheme is provided on an annual basis by Hertfordshire County Council.
ROAR members must also be members of Dacorum Mencap. This costs £15 per year.
The scheme aims to accommodate people with varying degrees of learning disabilities who may also have other special needs. We are happy to discuss the needs of individuals. Some activities may not be suitable for everyone.
All activities are organised and led by the Activity Leaders assisted by trained and vetted Volunteers.
