Oh We Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside!

24 of us went to Southend for the day on Wednesday 17th July 2019. The sun was shining and we went down the pier on a train, played crazy golf, some went to the amusements and fun fair. We had our picnic by the sea plus an ice cream. We all met up for fish and chips before getting the coach back to Gadebridge Park.

Caldecotte Xperience

On Friday 31st May 2019, 24 Dacorum Mencap members and staff set off to Caldecotte Xperience in Bletchley. We stayed in 2 Mongolian Yurts which were great. We took part in 7 activities over the weekend (crate stacking, zorbing, archery, caving, bushcraft, wheely boats & rafted canoes) and everyone had an amazing time. Our members went above and beyond trying new activities and there was so much laughter from us all. We arrived back in Hemel on Sunday late afternoon, despite pleas to stay longer!

Dockey Wood and Ashridge Estate

On May 3rd 2019, 10 members went on a minibus trip to Dockey Wood to have a walk round the Bluebells. They then drove to Ashridge to the café where they sampled the scones they sell there.

Easter Bonnets

In April 2019 we decorated Easter bonnets at Drop-In. We then had an Easter Egg Hunt outside, in between the April showers.

Drop-In is held every Tuesday 12-2pm at St Mary’s Church Hall in Hemel Old Town.

Gateway Music Night

At Gateway in March 2019, we welcomed a 10 piece Ukulele band called “Katies Jumping Fleas” who entertained us for the evening. It was a fun and happy night for our members, plus the staff, and we hope to invite them back soon. Message from the band was “We had a blast! We loved every second of the evening – wonderful. We are happy to play anytime for your Gateway Club”

Dacorum Mencap’s Got Talent

Dacorum Mencap’s Got Talent was held in January 2019 where our members performed their chosen acts in front of the 4 judges. A great atmosphere and a fun night for everyone there. This was at Berkhamsted Football Club as part of our ROAR programme.
